Vision Sunday 2018

12/8/18

LOOK AT WHAT GOD IS DOING THROUGH HEIGHTS!

The heartbeat of our church has always been this, “We exist to lead people to experience the God who can change their life.” Everything we do focuses on people experiencing God, experiencing freedom, experiencing purpose, so we can experience making a difference. This year we’ve seen more people do just that than ever before and we couldn’t have done it without your faithfulness and generosity.

Experience God:

476 people told us they made a decision for Christ. WOW! That’s more than double the previous year. We saw 153 people experience life-change through water baptism – with 92 of those during our first-ever Spontaneous Baptism that was truly miraculous.  Through your generosity, we were able to pull off another spectacular At the Movies series where we saw 198 people say yes to Jesus, averaged 1,629 people EVERY Sunday in November – as well as adding a fourth experience at 5pm.

Experience Freedom:

We believe real life change happens in the context of real relationships. Our spiritual growth happens in “circles not rows” – which is why we encourage every person to drop the mask, get in a small group and develop real relationships outside of Sunday. In support of that, we offered 81 different groups this past year.

Experience Purpose:

Nothing miraculous would’ve happened this year if ordinary people had not connected to their extraordinary purpose. This year alone we’ve seen 252 people take next steps, discover their purpose and start making a difference. Currently 478 dream teamers are using their gifts in a variety of ways. From serving 4,944 cups of coffee to giving out over 1,300 first time gifts to new guests, this year our amazing team has stepped up like never before. Through Heights Kids, over 1,050 children experienced God through worship and object lessons. Seeing little heads bowed in prayer is truly special.

Experience Making a Difference:

This is how we get to be the hands and feet of Christ. Locally, we saw our church step up like never before when it comes to serving our community.  We had over 400 people participate in RVA Day – and were able to complete 32 individual projects serving 18 local non-profits. Nationally through our partnership with ARC, Association of Related Churches, we helped plant 76 new churches in 2018 alone. Globally we sent a team from Heights to Peru to spread God’s love to those in need.  I was honored to be a part of a lead team trip to Kenya in conjunction with One Child Matters – an organization focused on child sponsorship that we will be partnering with in 2019.

We are so grateful for you and your commitment to the vision of Heights Church. Thank you for being a part of this family. We know God is going to continue to use this church to bless the fire out of this city, this state, this country and this world!
